The Litany of Commitment for the Church in Progress series echoes Paul’s statements from the Letter to the Philippians.
Litany of Commitment
O God, we are a church in progress:
not perfect, but working daily
to love you more and serve you better.
Today we re-commit ourselves
to the daily practices of being church:
to stand firm in one spirit,
to strive side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel
to look to the interests of others
to recognize God at work in us,
to press on toward the goal of Christ.
As we commit today to next years’ gifts
of money, time, energy and prayer
and wonder what lies ahead,
we rejoice that we are making the journey with God.
Again we say: we rejoice!
