Forgive us, Lord Jesus,
because we have betrayed you
in a thousand mindless ways.
All day we work
without working for your kingdom.
All day we talk
without talking about your love.
All day we eat and drink
without remembering your goodness.
Now the day is nearly over,
and we cannot change what we have done
or left undone.
But we do have one more chance
to come to your table,
to accept your grace,
and to be refilled with the strength
to be your faithful disciples.
In this quiet hour,
let your covenant of forgiveness
hold true.
