Since the Apostles’ Creed is so heady and often abstract, creating a tablescape of object prompts can help learners (especially young learners) connect with the material. Here are a few suggestions:
- God–a globe to represent God’s role as maker of heaven and earth.
- Jesus–a cross to remind us of Jesus’ distinguishing act for us.
- Holy Ghost–a candle since the Bible says the Spirit came as flame on Pentecost
- Holy Catholic Church–a representation of your church (I had a small wooden one, but a drawing or even Lego structure could work!)
- Communion of Saints–the communion cup that we all drink from together
- Forgiveness of Sins–a bowl of water to remind us how our sins are washed away
- Resurrection of the Body and the Life Everlasting–a green plant whose seeds can be replanted
