This wedding blessing reflects Paul’s description of love in 1 Corinthians 13, which “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
A Blessing for a Stubborn Love
Trust your gut, but don’t forget your heart.
When you fight, fight to make your marriage better.
When you’re tired, rest in each other’s arms.
When the world seems overwhelming,
remember everything you have already made it through.
When this day of love seems too far away,
set your jaw and remember the vows you made:
for better for worse,
in sickness and health,
as long as you both shall live.
May your love be a stubborn one—
wonderfully, gloriously, fiercely stubborn.
May it bear all things, believe all things,
endure all things, hope all things.
May it be an echo in your lives—
and in the lives of those around you—
of the great and glorious stubborn love of Jesus Christ,
who fights every day to get through to our hearts.
So be kind.
Be gracious.
Be truthful.
Be loving.
Be stubborn.
And may God bless you for it.
Amen.
