Jesus said, “Eat this bread and drink this cup
In remembrance of me.”
On the cross, a criminal hung beside him.
The criminal said, “Jesus, Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
And Jesus promised that he would.
We remember the story.
We make love our first memory–
our foundational memory.
We remember we are forgiven.
We remember God is faithful.
And most of all,
we remember
that God remembers us.
That we are not lost.
That we are not abandoned.
That we are not alone.
We are remembered.
God remembers us.
And though the night may be dark
and evil may seem to win
for a day
or two
or even three
soon we will make another memory.
A memory of New Life
that cannot be diminished.
So go in peace.
Remember Jesus.
He remembers you.
