From generation to generation, you are the Lord. For the faithful of the ages, we give you thanks and praise:
For the disciples and apostles of the early church, who, in Jesus’ name, baptized and taught.
For the saints and mystics of the medieval church, who gave their lives in Jesus’ service.
For the scholars and theologians of the Reformation, who clung to Jesus’ grace alone.
For the pilgrims and preachers of a young America, who lit fires of passion for a life in Jesus.
For the missionaries and activists of the modern church, who worked for justice in Jesus’ name in every place on earth.
For the founders of this very church, whose faith laid the foundation for our ministry.
For our own work, worship and ministry; for the gifts we now give and the commitments we now make; that in Jesus’ name we may shine with your light and love for all people.
As we look to a new year, we give thanks for the whole history of your church, and are grateful for the privilege of taking up the mantle of ministry.
